McCAFFREY, John "Jack"
Jack passed away peacefully on August 10, 2014, at Irene Thomas Hospice. Jack is survived by his daughter, Ann, his sister, Sister Rosemary, FMSA and special friend, Mary Eva Dean. He was predeceased by his infant son, Iain, first wife Annie, and second wife, Mary. Jack was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1926 and immigrated to Canada with his family in 1962. He lived in Montreal until 1974, settling in Richmond, BC until 2007 and spent the rest of his life at Augustine House in Ladner, BC. He joined the British Merchant Navy in 1940 and served throughout WWII and after. He joined the Knights of Columbus in Longueuil, QC where he became a 4th Degree Knight. He was a founding member of the Archbishop Duke Council in Richmond and was awarded "Knight of the Year" in 1981. A Funeral Mass will be held Monday, August 18, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 3900 Arthur Drive, Ladner, BC. Visitation and prayers Sunday, August 17, 2014, 6 to 9 p.m. at Delta Funeral Home, 5329 Ladner Trunk Road. The family would like to thank Dr. Quelch, Dr. Duncan and Dr. Ho, the staff at Augustine House and the Irene Thomas Hospice in Ladner, for their kind and compassionate care during Jack's last days.
