Alan Teague Obituary

On September 11, 2014 we lost Alan Teague. Born December 3, 1937, Alan was a life long resident of Ventura County. Born into a long standing agricultural family, he became very involved with local business as well as many charities. His many passions included community involvement, politics, horses and art. He especially enjoyed being outdoors with his family and many friends.

Whether he was with his beloved Rancheros Visistadores or simply on a horse in the beautiful Ventura County back country riding along Sespe Creek, he found great pleasure in the life's simple things.

Anyone who met Alan, knew he was a person you could count on in the time of need. Always he looked after other's interests before his own.

His accomplishments were many, but one would never know that by talking to him. He took particular pride in his family, close friends and community. A man of incomparable character. He is survived by his son Chuck (Laura), granddaughters, Caitlyn and Alison, son Alex, grand children, Shawn, (Marisol), Sabrina (Justin), Kyle and great grandson Desmond as well as close friend Helen Gregorich. Special thanks to the Ventura County Medical Center ER and ICU for their outstanding care.

Services are pending, please feel free to donate to your favorite charity with Alan in mind.

Alan left his footprint on California agriculture in so many ways. As a newcomer to the citrus business, he welcomed my questions & provided friendship & guidance as well as introducing me to a wealth of fellow ranchers. This is his character; it lives on through his family as well as the many lives he touched.

Alan will be remembered & missed; I hope that each person he influenced will pay tribute to his legacy by providing a similar kindness to someone else, thus insuring a continuing wealth of his knowledge.

Warm regards to Alex & family, Helen, & the greater Limoneira family. His life was well lived; may he rest peacefully.

We will plant young lemon trees in his name at Balcom Ranch.

I wanted to share the profound loss I feel with the passing of Alan Teague. I had the privilege of working with Alan in my role as Limoneira CEO while he was Chairman of the Board back in the late 1980s and 90s. Alan was instrumental in getting me involved with VCCF during his role as founding Chairman. I served on the investment committee since 1991and assumed a number of roles as a volunteer committee member due to his encouragement and influence. I later modeled my leadership after Alan, when I Chaired VCCF years later

Alan was a no-nonsense leader, passionate and committed to the work of bettering the community. He also had an amazing ability to "cut to the chase" and getting the work at hand done. I have fond memories of Alan while he was the El Presidente of Rancheros Visitadores. He knew how to live.

He helped me understand that I should "be who I am, do what I love and play all out". I will miss Alan, a uncommon leader, visionary and most of all friend.
