Lupe Cachu was born in Tlazazalca, Michoacan Mexico to Sotero Cachu and Soleda Garcia, Jan. 18, 1915. She had been a county resident since 1920, beginning at Limoneira and then Santa Paula by 1940 where she worked at the Sunkist Lemons and spent the next 20 years enjoying life. By 1960, she relocated to Oxnard with her family to assist as a waitress to her late-sister, Aurora Cachu's family owned restaurant, Mexico City Cafe from 1959 to 1971 and has been an Oxnard resident since.
She had married twice and throughout her life she had a passion for music. For instance, she enjoyed it when music students would come to the house for their vocal lessons that were taught by her niece, Maria Teresa Chavez. She also loved baseball, dancing and family reunions. But it wasn't until her grand-nephews, Saulito and Miguelito, came into her life that she found purpose again. She had watched over them for 30 years and had continued to watch over them until the very end.
She is survived by her niece, Maria Teresa Chavez; grand-nephews, Saul A. Chavez and Miguel A. Chavez; her sisters, Lucila Sanchez from San Jose, and Elvira de Soto from Oxnard; and many, many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, great-grand-nieces and nephews.
We will always remember her as the woman that gives and never asks. Her presence at home brought nothing but comfort and tranquility. Our home was her loving arms that circle around us. Our lives was her smile that would shine upon us. Our worries was the pain she would take away. Be Happy, Go Lucky! she would always say. Our family was the meaning of her life. This is our sanctuary. She is our sanctuary! And her life is the meaning of ours. - We love you Tia, Saul, Teresa and Miguel
Special thanks to Linda Vasquez and Ismael Frausto for the care and dedication. Special thanks to Assisted Hospice and personnel, especially Ms. Maggie Penny who cared for her in her last moments.
