1934 - 2010 Anna Johs passed away at Country Villa Nursing in Quincy, Calif., on Sunday, Nov. 14, 2010.
Anna was born in Los Angeles and raised on a farm in Arcadia. She went to Monrovia High School and attended the University of Southern California and was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. In 1955, married Tony Johs, moved to Oxnard and together started Oxnard Music Store. In addition, she worked with the Navy as a bid coordinator for both the Port of Hueneme and Point Mugu.
Over the years she served on several volunteer committees in the City of Oxnard and County of Ventura. She was the first woman President of the Oxnard Chamber of Commerce where she started Oxnard Police K-9 program. She served on the Oxnard City Council 1985-1990. Anna was also a board member for the California Department of Mining and Geology 1988-1991. Anna loved to be involved and made her community a better place for everyone. She believed in giving back to her community as much as she could.
Anna also enjoyed spending as much time as possible at her mountain hideaway up at Lake Almanor. When she was at the Lake, she was able to have the balance in life to enjoy the animals of nature as well as a great Martini on the Lake.
Anna is survived by her two sons, John of Camarillo and Paul of Meridian, Idaho, and three grandchildren.

We are forever grateful to Anna & Tony for giving us the opportunity to open our business in Oxnard. They always stopped by to visit when they were in town. They offered optimism when we were struggling, and advice on dealing with Oxnard city issues. We've missed those visits during Anna's lengthy illness. We smile each time we see an Oxnard Music Store tag come through our shop! God Bless this wonderful lady. May she rest in peace with her beloved Tony. Our deepest sympathy to John, Paul, & family.

I'm sorry to hear about the passing of your mother. It doesn't seem that long ago that we were putting up her council signs. She was a good mother to you boys and a dedicated public servant. It was fun to able to spend time with her at the lake, where she was at her best.

Anna Johs was a remarkable women who gave so much to the Oxnard community. She was responsible for bringing K-9's to the Oxnard Police Department back in 1980. Her legacy lives on as the k-9 unit here is still going strong.
On behalf of the OPD we extend our heartfelt condolences to Anna's family.
