Oct. 13, 1940- Oct. 9, 2010 Cyrus James (Jim) Horn was born Oct. 13, 1940 in Success, Ark., to Cyrus Martin and Reva Irene Horn. He was a resident of Ventura County from 1945 - 1997.
He lived in Santa Paula with his wife, Maxine, and daughters, Chris and Jamie. He retired from Southern California Edison after 30 years of employment. He fulfilled his lifelong dream when he bought 160 acres and moved to Oklahoma in 1997. He raised cattle, horses, his precious mules, and even a llama.
His hobbies were to restore old cars and trucks, and fishing. His passion was his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his father, Cyrus Horn. He leaves behind his mother, Irene Horn of Fillmore; brother and friend, Frank Horn of Santa Paula; sister, Betty Brown of Taft; wife, Maxine of Madill, Okla.; daughter, Eden (Chris) Avery of Madill, Okla.; daughter, Jamie Moore-Holmes of Fort Gibson, Okla.; grandchildren, Christopher, Brian, Mellissa, Meaghan, Cody, Kaitlyn, Maddison and Kevin James Moore of California and Oklahoma; two great-grandchildren, Shay and Jemma of Madill, Okla; and a loving extended family in California, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Michigan.
He was a good husband, a loving and supporting dad, and a great Pop to all of his grandchildren. His wishes were to be buried out on his property and we are proud to be able to fulfill his last request. He will be loved and missed by all.

I miss you so much ❤ 10 1/2 years... I still hear & feel you. We are able to laugh a little now... but still so many tears. What a huge void you left in our hearts & lives. One more hug, dance, ride around the ranch, what I wouldn't give to "waist another day with you" Love & Miss you so much #2

Thank you for all of your thoughts and prayers. Dad was not only the best Dad a daughter could as for, he was our best friend. He gave us strength & confidence, taught us to laugh (even at ourselves), gave us all a lifetime of happy memories, and in the end, showed us what the meaning of courage was. I am proud to have been his #1 Daughter. I love you Dad.....

Our thoughts and prayers are with Jim's family in their sorrow of losing such a wonderful husband and father and son.
In highschool Jim always had a smile on that handsome face and a joke or two. I agree with Susan, he certainly will light up heaven.

To the Horn Family. Jim was a terrific guy, friend, and Foreman. I worked with Jim for many years as a lineman on the 1/C crew. There are only a few men at SCE who I respected more. He had a great family ethic. He was down to earth, witty, and just a good person.
My condolences.

Maxine & family,
How sad I was to hear about Jim. He and the rest of your family bring many fond memories. The water ski trips, the Mammoth trips, and the parties.Jim was such a character & just a "good ol boy" that made me laugh! Of many tales, he explained to me how a dog of yours came down with "rock fever". I know he leaves many good memories to all of you as well. My thoughts & prayers go out to all of you.
