BERTRAM MAGENHEIM
BERTRAM MAGENHEIM, age 90, passed away quietly on March 29, 2015 at his residence with his wife Eleanor at his side. Bert, the youngest of six siblings, was born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Joseph and Sadie Magenheim and predeceased by his sisters Annette, Maxine, Beatrice, Libby and his brother Albert. In 1942, during World War II, Bert served in the 9th U.S. Army Air Force as a Weather Observer in the Central Europe Campaign. After the war he attended City College of New York and graduated as an Electrical Engineer. In 1949, Bert married Eleanor Schiller of Hazelton, PA; they were married for over 65 years. Bert was an Engineer and Businessman. During his career he worked for Raytheon, RCA and Comsat. He was awarded several citations and accolades for his inventions and accomplishments. In 1978 he purchased IDEAL Reprographics, Inc. in Rockville, MD, and founded IDEAL Research, Inc. Bert is survived by his wife Eleanor and three children, Jay (Susan), Donna and Philip (Kathleen) Magenheim. Also survived by his grandchildren, Rachel, Steven, Samantha, Adam and Ryan. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2015, 9:30 a.m. at Temple Emanuel, 10101 Connecticut Ave., Kensington, MD. Interment following at King David Memorial Gardens, Falls Church, VA. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to City College Fund, 160 Convent Ave., Shepard Hall, Rm. 166, New York, NY 10031 or to Montgomery Hospice, 1335 Piccard Dr., Suite 100, Rockville, MD 20850.
