My deepest sympathies to the family of Mrs. de Boinville. She was my Spanish and French teacher at C.W. Woodward HS. during the school's early days. I was a student in the first graduating class. I have fond memories of her.

Mme. de Boinville was my French teacher at Woodward High (1974-75) at 8 a.m., first period, and she was always so elegantly done up in a dress or suit and pearls -- it made us bleary-eyed slobs sit up a little bit just out of shame. What a gracious lady and an excellent teacher. She'll be greatly missed by hundreds and hundreds of her students.

Its hard to find any words to say how much I will miss Janet. I met her 56 years ago when she, David and her children lived across the street from us in Kensington. Our families became dearest friends to this day enjoying many happy events as well as sad ones over the years.

In later years, my husband Bill & I enjoyed visiting with her to reminisce and chat over a good cup of tea! Au Revoir, sweet Janet.

Our love and sympathy to all the de Boinvilles and Hendersons.

My school principal in the suburbs of Paris in 1942 was named Madame Chastel. Iam now a retired French teacher from Montgomery County who never had the honor of meeting Madame Chastel de Boinville but would like to know if she had relatives in France with the name CHASTEL...not a common name.

Iextend my deep sympathy to her family.

I was a student of Madame's many years ago. She was a wonderful teacher and my lifelong interest in all things French is in part, due to her classes. I have been to France many times over the years and whenever someone commented on how well I spoke French, I thought of her. She was a great teacher and a lovely woman. My condolences to her family and her friends.

Janet Chastel de Boinville was a memorable individual. She was a caring grandmother and an amusing mother-in-law.
She dealt with the sudden loss of her devoted husband, David, with courage, grace and dignity. I will miss her.

I am one of Madame's students from long, long ago, but some 35 years later, I remember (and still remark from time to time on) her unending patience and gentleness.

Certainly unknown and unplanned at the time, years later, I moved to Paris and lived and worked there for 13 glorious years. While I was certainly never an ideal French student, I've always said that Madame provided me with a foundation from which I could build my language skills and as a result, my life in France, filled with wonder, opportunities and challenges.

Madame de Boinville certainly made a lasting impact on my life. I consider myself fortunate to have had my life touched by her.

My condolences to you, her family and loved ones, on your loss.

How great that her family had her in their lives for so long. I can still hear her saying "en Francais, en Francais" to us in class. I have fond memories of her teacahing us at Woodward.

I had Madame De Boinville for French 4 at Woodward back in the '60s. She was the kindest and most patient of teachers. I learned a lot from her class. Rest in peace madame!

Dear de Boinville's (Buz, Brian, Maddie, and all others,) I am saddened to read this. It is rare when I am on Facebook. When I came home earlier today - from a funeral of all things - at our church, my wife, Jenni, was on the phone with my sister, Marilyn, who was torn up. She had just recently visited your mother and grandmother. I had no idea of your mother's death. She was educated, kind, resourceful, connected, and an excellent teacher. She had a way of acting and a courtesy that is far too lacking in life today. She was a gentle woman. She also was a dear friend to me, my mother, and most especially my sister. I enjoyed the opportunities she gave me both in her class and in her life and David's as a tour guide to friends and family from abroad. All will miss her but most especially the Biggs from 11710. You are truly blessed to be her family.

I feel so fortunate to have had Janet in my life. Her children are my best friends, and she herself was the most supportive and kindest of friends. Our families have a long and loving history together. We will miss you, Janet.

Madame was one of my favorite teachers. In addition to be an amazing teacher, she cared about all of us and always encouraged us to do our best. She was kind and caring and the older I got the more I appreciated her kindness and her teaching.

My deepest sympathies to the family and to all who knew and loved Madame. She was a most wonderful teacher at Woodward High School, and I adored her. She was kind, provided a wonderful ear, and shared her bon bons with us! A true teacher beyong French language skills. Madame made a significant and lasting impression on me as a very young girl, one that I carried as I developed into adulthood. I know all her students loved her as I did. Merci, Madame!
