JoANN JORGENSON Obituary


JoANN STOECKER JORGENSON  
Passed away on March 29, 2017, survived by her beloved husband of 67 years, Paul (PJ) Jorgenson, children Charles and Paula, grandchildren Emily and Mark, sister Virginia Jackson, and many other family members and friends. Born on October 29, 1925 in Hays, Kansas, JoAnn attended Kansas State University where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. JoAnn graduated from K-State in 1947 and married PJ in 1949. After moving several times, they settled in Northern Virginia in 1963. JoAnn worked on Capitol Hill for several Kansas Congressmen and Senators as well as for the Clerk of the House of Representatives. Since 1955, JoAnn was involved in the P.E.O. Sisterhood, holding offices at the local and state levels, as well as serving on the Board of Trustees for the International Peace Scholarship Fund. A memorial service will be held at The Virginian, 9229 Arlington Blvd., Fairfax, VA, on Tuesday, April 11 at 2 p.m. Inurnment at Arlington National Cemetery will occur at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to "Chapter W, VA - JoAnn Jorgenson IPS fund (7956)" (P.E.O. Executive Office, Treasurer's Dept., 3700 Grand Ave., Des Moines, IA 50312).
