ELLSWORTH RAY DeMASTERS (Age 92)
Of Fairfax, VA passed away July 2, 2017. Born and raised in Nelson County, VA, he served in the Navy during World War II, earned a BA in Economics from University of Virginia (UVA), and was an economist for the Department of Agriculture in DC for 30 years. He retired in Fairfax, dabbled in Real Estate, and moved back to Nelson County. He was a member of Truro Episcopal Church, enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and travel. His favorite past time was golf.He was a loving husband of 64 years to his late wife, Joan; father to Ellsworth Ray DeMasters, Jr. (Evelyn) of Aiken, SC, Edward DeMasters (Darnell) of Fairfax, and Sara Jane Payne of Manassas, VA; grandfather to six and great- grandfather to nine.Memorial service is on July 29 at 2 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church in Arrington, VA.Memorial contributions may be made to Fairfax Volunteer Fire Department at fairfaxvfd.com or Veterans of Foreign Wars at heroes.vfw.org and expressions of sympathy sent to Sara Payne, PO Box 84, Clifton, VA 20124-0084.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the DeMasters family during this time of mourning and remembrance. I would visit with Ellsworth at Sunrise in Fairfax City and talk about events at Truro and of our days at USDA. He was a gentleman to the end.
