SANDY SCHOLTE Obituary
SCHOLTE, SANDY SCHOLTE, SANDY (Cassandra Olson), beloved mother and grandmother, loved and adored by many family and friends, left us to be in Heaven on September 30, 2011. She was preceded in death by her parents, Doris and Theodore Olson, and son Robert. She is survived by her children, H. Paul V (Amanda) of Richmond, VA, Suzanne Scholte (Chadwick Gore) of Falls Church, VA; daughter in law Ann E. Terrill Scholte of Richmond, VA , Edward (Maria) of Richmond, VA; and Cassandra Scholte Jensen of Austin, Texas; and grandchildren Chester, Christian and James Gore; Mason and Tristan Jensen, and Alyssa and Henry Paul Scholte VI; sister Doris Hestnar of N Fort Myers, FL and brother Ted Olson (Janice) of Richmond, VA. Although she was born in Quebec, Montreal, Canada, and lived for many years in New England, she loved the South especially Virginia, where she moved in 1968 with her young family. She attended University of Connecticut and was a stewardess for TWA. Sandy was very active in the Republican Party as a Goldwater Girl in 1964, as a Young Republican leader, and served as the Executive Director of the Republican Party of Virginia. She was a delegate for Ronald Reagan in 1976, 1980, and 1984. She worked for many campaigns from Dick Obenshain for Senate (Virginia) in 1978 to Bob Irvin for Senate (Georgia) in 2002. Among the organizations she worked included Young Americans for Freedom, Reagan Inaugural Committee, Republican National Committee, Republican Party of Virginia, National Conservative PAC, and as a producer for the radio talk show The BQ View. She adored the Boston Red Soxs, history and English mystery books, crossword puzzles, Scrabble, but most of all her children and grandchildren whose birthdays and holidays she always made special. A celebration of her life will be held at the historic Falls Church, 115 E. Fairfax Street, Falls Church, VA, 22046 on Friday, November 11 , 2011 at 1:00 pm.
