Florence A. Anders

Florence A. Anders, 87, of Country Aire Estates, Lewistown, Mo., formerly of 2527 Cherry St., Quincy, died Saturday (June 11, 2011) in the home.

Florence was born June 28, 1923, in Quincy, a daughter of Anton and Agnes Brink Hummel. She married Laurence Anders on June 9, 1949, he died Oct. 26, 1996. Florence was a member of St. Francis Solanus Church in Quincy.

Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her grandchildren. For many years she enjoyed the weekly dances at the Eagles and playing cards.

Survivors include her four children, Tom Anders of Hannibal, Mo., Nancy (Dean) Pryor of Palmyra, Mo., Bob Anders of Maywood, Mo., and Theresa (Gary) Silkwood of Palmyra, Mo.; 10 grandchildren, Shannon Gillette of Indiana, Stacy, Bob, Dan and Elaine Anders, Christopher Power of Palmyra and Amy Power of Quincy, Lance (Ashley) Anders of Fowler, Andy Anders of Ewing, Mo., and Philip Arrowsmith of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; two brothers, Leroy (Bernadine) Hummel of Louisville, Ky., and Melvin Hummel of Quincy; and several great- and great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters, Mary Margaret Hummel, Ruth McClinthen and Dorothy Hummel; and six brothers, Herb, Walter, Raymond, Wilbur, Paul and Ralph Hummel.

SERVICES: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Duker and Haugh Funeral Home, with a funeral mass at 11 a.m. in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church with the Rev. James Wheeler, O.F.M., conducting. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

VISITATION: 4 to 7 p.m. Monday with a parish prayer service at 4 p.m. in the funeral home.
