Joyce Gilroy Obituary

Joyce A. Gilroy, 57, of Norwood, and formerly of Newton, passed away peacefully at home Monday, July 25, 2011. Joyce was the beloved wife of Paulo Berce; loving mother of Laura and Kevin; caring stepmother of George; cherished grandmother of Darnell, Kasen, Orlan and Aleah. Joyce is also survived by many relatives and treasured friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Lucille Murray, and her brother, Robert Wayne Murray. Joyce grew up in Newton and graduated from Newton South High School in 1972. She worked in the restaurant business for more than 20 years where she touched many people with her positive energy and outgoing personality. She thoroughly enjoyed dancing, relaxing on the beach, and spending time with family and friends. She was an exceptional woman and will be remembered as a compassionate and fun loving person. Her spirit will live on with the memories that we all share. Services will be held Saturday, Aug. 13, at the First Baptist Church, 848 Beacon St., Newton Centre, MA 02459. Visitation is from 2 to 3:30 p.m., with the memorial service at 3:30 p.m. Following the service, friends and family are invited to a reception at the house in Norwood. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established. Donations may be made to Kevin Gilroy, 460 B Ave. NE, Walford, IA 52351.

You have been in our thoughts and prayers and it was an honor to have worked with Joyce for 12 years. She was a great friend and co-worker. I miss our times at Skipjack's and our long talks.
Please know we wish we could be with you today but Joyce will always be in our prayers.
Fondly,
Bryan Casey and Family

Our thoughts and prayers are with your families and friends. May the following words bring you comfort at this difficult time: "For here I am creating new heavens and a new earth, and the former things will not be called to mind, neither will they come up into the heart." – Isaiah 65:17.
While your loved one is in God's memory, all will have an opportunity to benefit from the promise quoted above.
