"There is no pain so great as the memory of joy in present grief" - Shawn was filled with so much joy in life that I think it's particularly hard to remember without seeing that wide smile and shining spirit. -- There are no words to describe the impact he had on so many. He believed in me, even when I didn't and I know he never stopped. We will miss Shawn; we will miss his smile, great advice and positive attitude. But in Shawn's life he touched so many and had such a positive impact on anyone who came in contact with him. At the end of the day your life is not judged by your worldly possessions, life is judged by what you did with the time given to you. Shawn made the most of his time and left great impression on anyone who ever met him. We need to take Shawn's impact on us and pass it on with: a positive attitude, a smile or fist bump to someone who needs one… As Shawn entered into heaven I imagine the first thing Shawn said was: “what's shaken Daddy O”- Where's the Gym? I know a little bit about Fitness!!! We going to miss you Daddy O !!!

Heaven has gained a man that lived life a passion to not let anything get in the way of his dreams. He had that same passion to inspire others to see their physical and mental capabilities, all with a smile so darn big you couldn't help but just smile back and say "okay Shawn I got this". Shawn entered my life when I was truly in a fitness rut. He righted my wrongs, he forced me to "suck it up" through more intervals then any human should have to go through and encouraged me to face my fear of swimming. It has been more then 6 years since he tortured, I mean trained me, but I can still hear his words of encouragement to this day. You will be missed by many Mr. Shawn. Thoughts to you, Heather and those sweet babies. RIP!

Shawn was an encourager, especially for those who struggled with obesity. He told me when I first met him of his family's history of heart disease and how important it was to lose weight and get fit. He always came by when I was working out to give me a tip, praise and a high five. I pray that his legacy lives on for his beautiful wife, Heather, and their children. There was no doubt that he loved them very much!

Shawn was an "elite" bodybuilder, but his attitude was anything but elitist. He welcomed everyone from all backgrounds, of all ages and fitness levels, into the gym and into his extended Gold's family. He was so inspiring as he held the "Get Fit Now Ask Me How" sign at the foot of the I-83 exit ramp. He made our community healthier and contributed to the world through every drop of sweat, every step, rep, and smile. I will never forget him, and I pray for comfort at this time for Heather, Sammi, and Jaxi.
