Although I didn't know Wayne personally, I do know he played banjo at a fundraiser for my now deceased husband. He died of cancer as well. I was told that Wayne was passionate about playing at fund raisers and benefits. I want you to know I am deeply touched by this and wish I would have thanked him and told him how much it was appreciated. I am doing the next best thing by thanking you. Please accept my heartfelt condolences. Sincerely, Mary Lou Moore

My heart is heavy knowing that Wayne McSherry is gone while knowing that he his now in a better place. I consider myself very lucky to have known a person like Wayne and to have made a lot of good music with him over these last 12 years. I will miss your sense of humor and your ability to play any stringed instrument that was handed to you. Whether we were onstage together in front of a thousand people, or at a late-night jam session at a bluegrass festival, you just knew that some good music was gonna happen when Wayne was involved. Arcadia, York County Fiddlers, and especially Graves Mtn BGF just won't be the same without you, Wayne.
My thoughts are with Lisa and the whole McSherry family during this time.

I grew up with Wayne, he helped on my grandfathers farm, cutting wood, stacking straw in the barn and we always found time for horsing around. The later years Wayne would treat us to a visit and his musical talent. I lost my Dad on April 12th, to cancer, Dad was fond of Wayne like the rest of us, in the last couple of years Dad and Wayne would bump into each other and talk about their treatments and cancer. Today they are both cancer free and when they bump into each other in heaven they wont be talking about cancer just good things. The pain of loosing our loves ones go deep, when we have to give up the good guys. You all are in my prayers. God bless us all.

McSherry Family, My sincere condolences to you all for the loss of a very good man. I haven't seen Wayne in years but I am sadden to hear of his passing. I remember Wayne as being a very thoughtful young friend of mine in school. He had so much respect and thoughtfulness towards others and always had such wonderful manners. I know when I saw him several times after high school, he always had a cowboy hat on. He looked good in that and wore it well. May God get you all through this dark time in your life. Wayne is now out of the pain he endured for so long.

Lisa, Jessica,Sabree, and McSherry family,
Words cannot express how we feel.We all have lost a friend who can never be replaced. We will always remember Wayne for his big heart and always smiling face. Wayne really knew how to make you laugh. Dean was able to take Wayne rabbit hunting this past season and they both really enjoyed the day.
Wayne had a God given gift in his music and blessed everyone that ever heard him play. Good memories of Wayne and Dale sitting on our back porch playing fiddle, guitar, banjo, and bass. Wayne will be missed by many, many people.
May he rest in peace.

The entire Heltzel family is grieving the loss of this great man. One of my favorite memories of Wayne is when he and some other musicians played at my dad, Joe Heltzel's 89th birthday..it was his last birthday. Dad passed about 2 weeks before his 90th. Hearing my dad sing one last time with Wayne and the guys will be a memory that we will treasure for the rest of our lives. RIP our friend.
