ROCKINGHAM, N.C. — Mrs. Lucille Canipe Covington Goodwin, 88, of Rockingham, passed away Friday, March 6, 2015 at Richmond Pines Healthcare in Hamlet. She was born Aug. 15, 1926 in Richmond County, a daughter of the late Frank and Johnsie Lassiter Canipe.
She was the owner of Mayfair Beauty Shop for more than 40 years and a member of Crestview Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by husbands L.C. Covington and Bill Goodwin.
Mrs. Goodwin is survived by a daughter, Lucinda Pittman (John) of Durham; a son, Joel Covington of Rockingham; grandchildren, Brad Pittman of Durham, Jenny Pittman of Charleston, South Carolina, and Michael Pittman (Breanna) of Raleigh; great-grandchildren, Makayla and Stryder Pittman; stepchildren, Judy Thurow, Susan Webb and Gary Goodwin; and special nieces, Emily Kelly and Pat Chappell.
Funeral services will be conducted graveside at 2 p.m. Saturday at Zion United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from noon to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at Crestview Baptist Church.
