John Greener Obituary

John L. Greener, 72, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2009 in the comfort of his home after an extended battle with cancer. He was born on October 11, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois.

John is best described as dedicated, honest and hard working. He is a retired Industrial Engineer with a Masters in Business, he worked hard throughout his life. Always devoted to his family first and then his causes, John served over 25 years with the Lions Clubs of America, earning the highly respected positions of both President and Governor. His selfless commitment to service even through the last months of his life also earned him the position of President of the Yuma Shriners Club having been involved with this respected organization since 1984.

John a beloved husband, is survived by his wife of just two days short of their 50th wedding anniversary, Marcia Greener; his loving children, Keith Greener and Kim Hall; and grandchildren, Derik Melvin, Tyler Holland, Michael Hall, Blake and Jack Greener.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at Johnson Mortuary from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow on Thursday, September 3, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in the Johnson Mortuary Chapel. Private cremation services will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Shriners Organization, devoted to sick children, are graciously appreciated.

John, It was a pleasure working with you and your daughter Kim, while I worked at Desert Best, your dedication, hard work and honesty went along way. Marica is a beautiful lady, she is in our prayers along with all the entire family.
