Dear Mrs. Murphy, Sons, and the entire Murphy Family, John was always a truly nice guy, with a friendly word - from classes in high school to the days in this neighborhood.

Enie & sons,
I had the pleasure of working as John's secretary from about 1985-1990. What a great man of character and a love for his family. I was just telling the people I work with now that he was the best person I ever worked for. It has been many years since I've seen or talked with John and only recently heard of his retirement and now today (Christmas Day) I hear of his passing. I want you to know that you and your family are in my prayers. May you find the strength you need to make it through this difficult time through the love of our Savior.

Mrs Murphy&Family
I met and became freinds with John in the 60's,right after he moved from Scranton. John soon became one of the Garage guys. John was always one of the good guys, with his great Irish smile and laughter. Having spent a lot of time with "Murph" at McDevitt and the Garage he will always be in my memories and they are all good. My Prayers are with you and your Family. John, "the Garage" will miss you..

What can I say about John that has not already been said!! He was a truly "blessed" man and this is shown by all the testimonies that have been written about him. I will miss that wonderful sense of humor and that winning smile. Although I worked with John as a Deputy in the Register of Wills Office, I was pleased that I could call him a friend!
Please know my thoughts and prayers are with your family and May God hold you close in his loving arms!

Enie, Tim and Patrick--Please accept my heartfelt sympathy at this time of loss. In talking to my colleagues around the state, we all mentioned how fortunate we were to have so many fond memories of your husband and father. That will give us comfort and, in time, I hope your memories will do the same for you. John had an unquenchable thirst and a never ending supply of jokes. I certainly hope the Good Lord above, along with the saints and angels have a sense of humor, a pack of smokes, and a heavenly single malt scotch. Murphy's in the House.

Dear Enie & Family,
I, for one, didn't really get to know John through work, or from a close friendship, but rather as a pillar in the church. He was one of the countless many who have made me and my family feel welcomed at OLBS - always working tirelessly at various functions, a joy to be involved with at said functions, and yet, a quiet man who seemed to roll with the punches no matter what.
I just want to offer to you a sympathetic ear (and shoulder) any time you may need it. It's the least I can do for your family after what John was able to do for us.

Dear Murphy Family,
I cannot imagine your loss. I've known John for more than 15 years through the Register of Wills Assoc. So many of us feel such pain at his passing. He always brought joy and happiness along with his words of wisdom. His planned retirement gave us an opportunity to let him know how much we loved him and would miss him. He left something special with everyone who knew him. I know we all are grateful for the blessings he brought us and are richer in spirit for it. Murph has touched the lives of so many people. We should take a page out of his book in how we live our lives. In time the joy of his being will override the pain of his loss.

Dear Mrs. Murphy & Sons:
I was so deeply saddened by the news of John's death. He was a great person who always had time to help with your questions on inheritance no matter how small or uninportant. It always surprised me when he would answer the phone. Someone as great as he was doing the little things. All of those things is what made him so special. Please find peace in the many happy memories.
Deepest Sympathy,
Dot Cole, Register of Wills

Mrs. Murphy and Sons. As one of the Founding Fathers of "The Garage Boys" John will surely be missed. Most of my memories of John are from high school. We spent many a cold night in Joe Sheesley's garage mostly trying to find out how we could get beer from someone. Of course, John was one of the smarter ones of the group and I remember him very honest and reliable. During John's first or second year at Mount Saint Mary's a group of us went to visit John on campus. We had never even been on a college campus but we had great fun including John being questioned about the possibility that his quests looked liked outside agitators. A good friend is gone but not forgotten. From an old friend...Al Krebs.
