Alice Joynes Obituary

Alice D. Joynes NORFOLK - Alice Evelyn Davis Joynes, 90, transitioned from this world to the next Aug. 15, 2008. She was originally from Norfolk and was the loving wife of St. Leger M. Joynes, already crossed over. Evelyn was the cherished mother of her daughter, Rita Mina Ramsay of Venice, Fla. and son, St. Leger "Monty" Joynes and wife Pat of Boone, N.C. She was adored by three grown granddaughters, Annalisa, Danielle and Pam; a brother, Odell and wife Marianne; a niece, Ruth and their families, including many great-grandchildren. She was also the beloved sister of William "Buddy" and James "Sug" Davis who welcomed her to their heavenly family. Evelyn worked as a bookkeeper for many years. She was generous with her love, time, creativity and resources. Evelyn greatly enjoyed travel, playing cards, cooking and planning grand family get-togethers. In her final years, when time took away many of her memories, her family cared for her and loved her through the aging process. Evelyn was a wonderful human being, quick to lend a hand, quick to give a smile and a hug. She was beautiful inside and out. She made the world a better place by loving everyone just for who they were and opening her heart to all. She will be missed, but she will forever be in the hearts of all who knew her. She is forever a blessing. Donations in her memory may be made to Tidwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238-5160 and are gratefully received.
