Annie Gillette Obituary


Annie D. Gillette CHESAPEAKE - Annie D. Gillette, widow of Howard T. Gillette, died Aug. 20, 2008, in Obici Hospital. Born April 19, 1925, in Aydlett, N.C., and was predeceased by her parents, William Beckwith and Lizzette Dunton; brothers, Charlie Wilson Dunton and William Beckwith Dunton; and sister, Mary Cherry. She was a member of Deep Creek United Methodist Church and the Mary Tyus Bible Class. For more than 50 years, she was the owner and operator of Anne's Beauty Shop. She is survived by a daughter, Patricia G. Larson and husband Ronald of Wytheville, Va.; a son, Howard T. Gillette III and wife Toni of Chesapeake; a daughter, Jo Anne G. Thomas and husband Howard of Chesapeake. Surviving grandchildren are Michael Larson and wife Eleanor of Japan, Anne Crescini and husband Riz of Japan, David Larson and wife Emily of Mount Crawford, Va., Greg Gillette and wife Sara of Seaford, Va., Britt Gillette and wife Jennifer of Portsmouth and Jarrette Campbell of Chesapeake. She is also survived by great-grandchildren, Claire, Alex and James Larson, Mia and Abby Crescini, Jack, Benjamin and Ryan Larson, Adam and Katie Gillette; nephews, Charles Dunton of Upper Marlboro, Md., and Marshall Cherry and wife Julie of Aydlett, N.C. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake. The Rev. Jonathan Bennett will officiate. The interment will follow in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Deep Creek United Methodist Church, 141 N. George Washington Hwy., Chesapeake, VA 23323. Friends are invited to sign the online guestbook and to view the funeral via live webcast at www.omanfh.com.
