Bessie Johnson Obituary


Bessie F. Johnson CHESAPEAKE - Bessie Frances Johnson, 82, passed away Oct. 14, 2008, at Bay Pointe Medical Rehabilitation Center. Bessie was a member of the Living Waters Church of God, a faithful member of the Women's Willing Workers - Ladies Ministries and former Sunday school teacher. Also, she was a former clerk and Sunday school superintendant of the Benson Church of God in Benson, N.C. Surviving are her loving husband of 59 years, Kirby E. Johnson and her children Kirby L. Johnson Sr. and wife Sandy of Chesapeake, Garry L. Johnson and wife Louise of Selma, N.C., and Linda Gail Koester and husband Donald of Chesapeake. Cherishing her wonderful memory are her nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and her sister, Mary Horton of Coats, N.C. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk. Her funeral will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in Woodlawn Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be offered to the family online at www.woodlawngroup.com.

Mrs. Johnson was a true and loving friend to my parents, Myra and Dick Matkins. She was a lady to be proud of and will be missed deeply by many.
