Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

I was a neighbor of Allan's when we were kids in Northampton, PA. I was in the same grade as he and his brother Scott through elementary school. Allan was a great kid, full of joy and energy.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Al will surely be missed by many. My most memorable years in the Navy were of my time serving onboard the USS Cape St. George with Al and CE Division. Al was always there for us then, and that will always be remembered. My heart goes out to the Andrews Family.

Dear Wendi and family, please accept our condolences. I am truly sorry for your loss, and at such a young age. I'm also sorry that Josh and I couldn't make it down to Virginia for the funeral, But I'm greatful that Walter is there as a pall bearer. We really thought Al was going to beat this cancer. Again we are sorry for your loss, please know that you and the family are in our thoughts and prayers always.
God Bless.

Dear Wendi, Spencer and Riley,
I extend my deepest condolences for you loss. I had the pleasure of being your neighbor and the distinct privilege of having Allan as a friend and mentor. Allan was a great American, outstanding Master Chief, dynamic leader and truly cared about his Sailors but always kept his family in the forefront. Simple put; he was a model of excellence that we all tried to emulate. His upbeat attitude and smile would always bring happiness to those around him. Words can’t explain the loss you feel but rest assured Allan will always look after you and be your guardian Angle. May God bless each of you and if you need anything please call. I’m currently deployed and can’t attend but I’m there in spirit and will keep you in my prayers.

To the Andrews family I extend my most sincere sympathies.
I knew Big Al from serving on board the CAPE. What I remember best about him was how he helped me and many others, realize and reach their potential. He honestly was one of the few people who I consider to be a "measuring stick".
Like many others, we talked a lot when we were underway. We spoke often of family and you could see that even though the man was mission oriented, he always looked forward to coming home to spend time with you all.
I don't miss many people, but I will indeed feel his passing.
May God bless you with the emotional strength needed to get through this.

ETCM (SW) Andrews was a consummate Navy professional. He cared for and managed best what mattered the most; his Sailors! I had the distinct honor of serving with Master Chief Andrews onboard USS CAPE ST. GEORGE (CG-71). When you wanted it done right the first time you called on Master Chief Andrews. The nation has lost a great Sailor and friend. Our prayers are with his family and shipmates. Fair winds and following seas Master Chief!

Wendi,
Words cannot begin to express the loss everyone is feeling. Only knowing Al for a short time, he was not only a man of honor and integrity but a man that loved his family, his country and his friends. His zeal for life was envied by many and he will be truly missed. You and your family will be in our daily prayers. God Bless!

Wendi,

I am truly sorry for your loss - I've had the distinct pleasure of serving with Al onboard the CAPE ST GEORGE managing CE Division. I have always enjoyed his humor and sense of duty. You must know that during our endless days at sea - he spoke of you and Spenser, and Riley often and loved you all very much!

I know that the world is a much somber place without him. My thoughts and prayers are with you always!

God Bless!

I would like to send my condolences to the family. I had the honor of serving with Al at FTSCLANT back in the late 90’s and always enjoyed his camaraderie and respected his professionalism. I have always been amazed at his positive outlook on life which continued even in the face of his last challenge. Al was a true “shipmate” in every respect.

Very Respectfully

My thoughts and Prayers go out to Al’s Family and Friends. Al was a great inspiration to me; he was my rock to lean on while we were going thru Chief’s Initiation and he kept me sane and on course while we served on the Roosevelt. I have turned to Al many times for guidance and advice over the years and I will miss him dearly.

Wendi and family.

All of you are in my thoughts and prayers and I will miss Al dearly. I enjoyed the time we went caching overseas during last cruise and meeting all of you. Al was a great person who I learned a lot from. I'm currently on deployment and won't be there in person but will be thinking of you. If you need anything please email me at [email protected].
