Robert Apperson Obituary


Robert F. Apperson Sr. NORFOLK - Robert F. Apperson Sr., 79, passed away Nov. 9, 2008, in Sentara Leigh Memorial Hospital. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert F. Apperson Jr. in 2007. Robert was the son of the late Anne and Andrew Apperson, a native of Norfolk and a graduate of Granby High School. He retired as vice president of Capes Shipping Agency. He was for 56 years the loving husband of Charlotte Dunn Apperson and "Big Daddy" of Robin A. Nipper, brother of Betty A. Terry and her husband R. Grayson Terry of Richmond, Va. He was also grandfather to Daniel Gabel, Thomas Gabel, Priscilla Howton and Melissa Erhardt and great-grandfather to six. The family will receive family and friends at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, today from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 5767 Sellgar Drive, Norfolk, with the Rev. Dr. Reginald Burgess officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church or the American Heart Association, 500 Plume St. East, Norfolk, VA 23510 in Robert's name. Condolences may be offered to the family online at www.woodlawngroup.com.
