Jean Doughty Obituary


Jean Belle Doughty EXMORE - Jean Belle Nottingham Doughty, 79, wife of the late R.C. "Jack" Doughty Jr. and a resident of Exmore, passed away Nov. 12, 2008. A native of Belle Haven, Mrs. Doughty was the daughter of the late Jennings Wise and Lillian Mapp Nottingham. Mrs. Doughty was a retired funeral director, a member of Belle Haven United Methodist Church and Northampton Chapter No. 2 OES. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Jennings Bell and her husband Waymon of Belle Haven; a son, Guy J. Doughty and his wife Joyce of Concord Wharf; four grandchildren, Ross W. Bell of Belle Haven, Jennifer B. Ross and her husband P.G. of Exmore, Megan B. Doughty of Richmond, Morgan E. Doughty of Blacksburg; five grandchildren; and a faithful and loving pet, Casey. A funeral will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Doughty Funeral Home, Exmore, with the Rev. Judith G.F. Worthington officiating. Interment will follow in the Belle Haven Cemetery. Family will join friends Saturday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Belle Haven United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 37, Belle Haven, VA 23306 or Hospice and Palliative Care of the Eastern Shore, P.O. Box 316, Parksley, VA 23421. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.doughtyfuneralhome.com.
