Dorothy Olds Obituary
Dorothy L. Olds VIRGINIA BEACH - Dorothy L. "Dottie" Olds, of the 1600 block of Kepler Road died Nov. 9, 2008. A funeral will be held Saturday at noon in The State Temple New Community Temple, Tyre Neck Road, Portsmouth. Bishop Ted Thomas Sr. will be presiding. Burial will be held in Roosevelt Memorial Park. A viewing will be today from 7 to 8 p.m. in Community Funeral Home, Norfolk Chapel.

Olds Family - My apologies for the late entry of this note - I got the news as I was preparing to go to work - on my drive in I wept as I remembered Dottie - I know she is in heaven - she was a blessing to me and my family - she will always have a special place in our hearts. Olds Family,
We pray that God continues to comfort and encourage during this time of great loss. Sis. Dottie had a voice that was simply beautiful, however her kind spirit, friendly smile and sense of humor were most encouraging to me. I will forever cherish the memory of her genuine hugs and her singing "I Must Tell Jesus", she will be greatly missed.

We were very saddened, but yet rejoicing for the graduation of Sis. "Dottie-D". She will long be remembered by us with her powerful singing and just being heard on the radio Saturday afternoon on Outreach for the Young Broadcast. And let us not forget all of the St. Stephen's Young Adult Choir anniversaries... WOW! She is now allowing her voice to blend with the redeemed in heaven. May all of the Olds Family receive the comfort of the Lord during this time. We rejoice with you on her graduation from labor to reward. My prayers and thoughts are with the family. I can still remember Dottie's smile and her pleasing ways as she served us at the dining hall at NAS Oceana. She will make you laugh when you were down and would give you a word of encouragement.
I always considered her as a true friend.

Mr. OLds: This is your old neighbor "miss Leta." We will all miss Dottie terribly, while she's singing in the heavenly choir! I wear a scar in my right eyebrow that she gave me by accident when we were playing stick ball as children. May God bless you all. Faith will always bring us through, PRAISE GOD!

At times like this, it seems so difficult to find a way to show the sympathetic thoughts that words can never say...when I heard the news all I could think of was "I Got A Testimony" and that is what she will leave. Her testimony will live on pass her time here on earth. She did all that she could do, and now it is her time to receive her reward. “Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee... To the Olds Family: Dottie always had an encouraging word during choir rehearsal and even when she was sick, she always continue to sing in the Cathedral and Inspirational Choir at St. Stephens COGIC. I loved to hear her say "Work On It" and my favorite song "Testimony". She will surley be missed by Beverly, Jerome, Ashley, Brittaney, and Jonathan. To the Olds family I render my sincerest condolences. I must say that I am both rejoicing at "Aunt Dotties" victory, yet im saddend that she is not with us any longer. I only wish that generations to come were as fortunate as I was to experience one of the most powerful and annointed voices in the world! There was nothing better than to listen to her "tune up" behind Evangelist B.J Olds preaching, while Chuck would play the organ during their weekly Saturday broadcast
"Outreach for the young"! She was indeed my favorite singer and I will certainly miss her loving smile, personality and voice greatly!

My condolence and prayers goes out to the Olds family words could never express the way I feel right now. I met Dottie 20 some years ago. She was my Boss at Oceana Base Gallery. She was just like a mother to me she kept me straight always spoke positive things to me. She helped me in so many ways. She tought me alot. I will never forget her. I new her when she wasn't saved she was a good person then and when she got save she was even more than that. There was not nothing that she wouldn't do for you. I often remember her talking about her niece's and nephews. Especially Kenya her baby girl she would always say. My prayers are with you. She will be well missed.

I didn't know you personally, but I knew you through your son Elder Roderick Rose. He talked so highly of you, so I felt like I knew you all along. We will miss you here on mother earth, but I know that you have gone ahead to prepare a welcoming celebration for our arrival. Your boy, Roderick, surely does miss his mama. I remember Dottie since I was a little girl, calling me "Joyce Ann". She always made me laugh. She had a great sense of humor!

It seems that our love ones are here for a very short period of time, but it is only God who knows when our work is complete. Sister Dottie's work is now done and I have been blessed tremendously by her humor, words of encouragement, and that beautiful voice of hers. She is not only healed, but is basking in the presence of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ. My condolences go out to you in your loss. I was speechless when I heard of "Dottie D's" transition. My mind immediately scanned memories of her outgoing personality, infectious laugh, outrageous sense of humor, and a voice second to none. I send my deepest condolences to the Olds Family. I work for VOA and had the pleasure of meeting Mrs Olds there. She was a blessing to know and a pleasure to see every time she came to see us. As our hearts are broken for our loss it is with great celebration that the Angels in Heaven welcome her home.
