My Dear Husband, I'm sitting here at work, not able to concentrate.. my eyes trying not to swell with tears.. thinking of you.. of our life we shared.. the crazy laughter you brought into my life... our deep friendship.. and our fairy tale Love we shared. This next week is not only the week all those who love you so much lost you.. but it would of been our 17th Wedding Anniversary.. I'm doing my very best.. I'm working hard, keeping things up on the house, just still taking one day at a time. Wishing you were here to be my handyman.. you sure loved tinkering in the garage or taking on a project... and probably the only man who actually ASKED his wife to give him a "honey-do" list! ha! But I miss you dearly, I'm not sure what my future holds, but I know for sure you were a "one of a kind" kinda guy! I'm sorry you left us all, I'm sorry you probably look down upon us all and are soooo sorry too. You are always in our thoughts and especially this month those who love you and miss you most will have you in their hearts. I love you always, Wife xo

Dear Ellingson Family,
I just learned of Dave's passing and wanted, like so many others, to extend my deepest respect and heartfelt sympathies to your family. My husband, Chuck and I both were stationed with Dave in VP-49, what seems like a million years ago. I cannot remember a time that Dave wasn't smiling or joking around with all of his crew. I don't think I ever heard a harsh word from him. Although, we lost touch with him after leaving Jax, we often thought of him with the kindest regard. We knew that if we ever needed anything, Dave would kindly give the shirt off his back if he thought it would help. Even now, as I write this I feel a lump well up in my throat and tears come to me thinking of your overwhelming loss. He was an inspiration to many and he will sorely be missed. To us he was "Super Dave" and that's how we will always remember him. I pray Our Heavenly Father will continue to comfort you and give you peace.

Dear Lou Ann,
I've just recently learned of Dave's passing away and I want to extend my deepest sympathy to you and your family. I only knew Dave for a short time while I was exercising at the Norfolk gym in 2003. During that time, Dave was always such an encouragement and always willing to help those around him.
I know you must be proud of Dave's many accomplishments and his unselfish life. Let God guide you as you take the time to grieve and to heal, knowing Dave touched many lives for good. I count it an honor to have known him.
May your cherished memories of Dave help you through the days, weeks, and years ahead and bring you comfort, and may God flood you with His love and strength.
Blessings to you all.

Dave, I know we went our seperate ways after high school, but you were always my best friend. I remember the time I went to visit you in Beeville TX. We had such a great time. Of course I stood out a little, since I had loog hair back than. I remember the night we spent at one of your friends off base and cooked up those big steaks and drank to many beers. I still remember how I felt the next morning. Dave I thought of you and the first years of you being with the Lord. We miss you and still am very confused of why you left us so soon. Oh ya. Remember the 69 El Camino and we were up at the caves and I was instructed by the police to leave and I left with my date and your girl friend. You were so pissed at me. There are so many memories. To many to write down. I love you man and miss you. One more thing dave. I meet your daughters for the first time in many years and you did good my friend. Both are very beautiful smart woman. I also gave them your ceramic bust and share a little back ground on it.

My darling husband, it's been 5 long months. I'm still awaiting your return from this long deployment you've been on. My rational mind knows you won't be returning to me at the 6 month mark. We miss you terribly and know that you are with us every step of our days and the quiet moments we are alone. I know you feel our love as we do your's. I'm getting my strength in knowing you are proud of me and your daughters for staying focussed on what life brings us and that enables our ability to move forward w/ pride and determination to succeed and to assist in bettering the lifes of others. That's what you did, my love. You gave all yourself to those who needed you and we, your family, friends, and shipmates will do the same... in your honor.
You are so very much loved.

The number of people that come into and out of your life during a 20 year career in the Navy is almost countless. For me the single most important friend I had in those 20 years was Dave. When I think back to my early years in the Navy my last thought is always of Dave and I water skiing in Maryland while dodging the jellyfish. He was a positive influence and the source of many happy memories for Donna and I.
To his family, take comfort in knowing that the love, respect, and admiration you had for him was shared by the many people who were lucky enough to have Dave as a friend. To me, he will always be the icon of the good people in this world. That is how I will always remember him.

Dads are meant to hold your hand,
Be there for you more than any man.
Dads are always in your heart,
Even if you’re very far apart.
Dads are always half of you,
It’s remembered by the big feet you accrue.
Dads love fast cars and fishing things,
And beating up boyfriends who pull at heartstrings.
Dads might not always been seen with the eye,
But you remember him most before you cry.
Dads encourage you to do what you want,
And being so proud of you with every flaunt.
Dads sometimes forget that you’re proud too,
For each accomplishment and good virtue.
Dads will always be in mind and soul,
And visit in dreams to keep in patrol.
Dads are dads alike but for me,
My dad was the best dad there could be.

Ellingson family, My heart goes out to you in this time of sorrow. Master Chief Ellingson was a role model and a mentor to me while i was in VAW-121. Not only did he look after his sailors, he also made us feel proud of what we do. He inspired me to do the best that i could and when i was in trouble the fact that he was disappointed in me was far worse than any punishment the navy could give me. I looked up to him as the type of sailor and person i wanted to be, and i still do to this day. May he rest in peace and blessings be with his family during this hard time. I will proudly be at service on friday with my head high knowing that i was mentored by such a honorable man. sincerly AD2(AW) Anthony (Pang) Pangelinan
