Mary Alderman Obituary


Mary Alderman NORFOLK - Mary Alderman, 90, a long-term resident of Norfolk, died Nov. 27, 2008, in Spanish Fort, Ala. She is survived by one daughter, Dora Rouse of Spanish Fort and two sons, Leon Alderman of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Marc Alderman of Alexandria, Va. Other surviving family members include a sister-in-law, Mary Ann DeFusco of Trumbull, Conn.; nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Mary Alderman was born March 15, 1918, in Lawrence, Mass., the fourth daughter of Leopoldo and Maria DeFusco. She married Robert H. Alderman in July 1949 and was married for 45 years. He died in 1994. She was preceded in death by her seven siblings, Rose Cavallaro, Palma Lyons, Anna Woidyla, Dora Milauskas, Alfred DeFusco, Ernest DeFusco and William DeFusco. Mary was a devoted wife and mother - her two main purposes in life. She loved gardening, animals and donated frequently to the SPCA. She was a committed member for more than 30 years of Burrows Memorial Baptist Church on Johnston Road, Norfolk. Graveside services were held in Grand Rapids, Mich., at 2 p.m. Saturday in Pine Hill Cemetery.
