Evelyn T. Rawls

Evelyn T. Rawls NORFOLK - Evelyn Thompson Rawls, 89, of the 900 block of Ingleside Road, died Jan. 29, 2009. Mrs. Rawls was born in Honaker, Va. She was the daughter of the late Ira and Ollie Thompson. Mrs. Rawls was a member of Squires Memorial Presbyterian Church in Norfolk, where she was a past deacon and elder. She was a past member of Tipperton Place Garden Club and was an avid bridge player. Mrs. Rawls was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie L. Rawls Sr. and a sister, Morjorie Word. Survivors include her son, Edward L. Rawls Jr. and his wife Jean Carole Rawls of Chesapeake and two grandsons, Edward L. Rawls III of Norfolk and Christopher B. Rawls of Osaka, Japan. There will be a visitation at the Chesapeake Chapel of H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments today from 7 until 8:30 p.m. A memorial service will be conducted 12:30 p.m. Sunday in Squires Memorial Presbyterian Church in Norfolk by the Rev. Craig Wansink. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Squires Memorial Presbyterian Church 770 Ingleside Road, Norfolk, VA 23502.
