Nancy W. Parker VIRGINIA BEACH - Nancy Wright Parker, 61, of the 300 block of Arctic Crescent, died Feb. 27, 2009, from lung disease complications. Born in Portsmouth, Oct. 13, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Ebram Byrd Wright Sr. and Mamie Lee Wright. She was in the first graduation class of John Yeates High School in 1966, Driver, Va. She was an administrative assistant for Public Works at Norfolk Naval Shipyard until retirement in 1991. Her first love was horses but not to be surpassed by beachgoing and photography. Playing paddle ball with her husband, Dennis, was a favorite past time during the summer until she could no longer be in the sun. She was a lifelong Southern Baptist and loved to sing the old gospel songs. She is survived by her loving husband of 17 years, Dennis A. Parker; three brothers, E.B. Wright Jr. of Portsmouth, Edward S. Wright Sr. and his wife Beverly of Chesapeake and Ronald Lee Wright Sr. of Kitty Hawk, N.C.; six nephews, one niece, four great-nephews and four great-nieces. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Greg Brenson. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.
