Alma Ambrose Obituary

Alma Ferebee Ambrose CHESAPEAKE - Alma Ferebee Ambrose, 85, of the 1000 block of Windswept Circle, died Feb. 27, 2009, in Chesapeake. A native of Norfolk, she was the daughter of the late Barry and Minnie Gayle Davis and the wife of the late Marius Copel Ferebee Jr. and Edmund Gray Ambrose. She attended Haygood United Methodist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Gayle F. McLaughlin of Chesapeake; a son, Marius C. Ferebee III and his wife Pam of Virginia Beach; six grandchildren, Chris Guard and his wife Sherry, Jody Staples and her husband Brett, Cary Ferebee and his wife Roxanne, Timmy Ferebee, Tarra Gregory and Shanna Edenfield; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Graham Funeral Home, Greenbrier Chapel, with the Rev. Charles A. Shumate officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4416 Expressway Drive, Virginia Beach, VA 23452 or the American Heart Association, 500 Plume St. E., Suite 110, Norfolk, VA 23510. I am so sorry to hear of Alma's passing. She was a great comfort to my father in his last years, and she will be missed.
