Myrtle Davis Obituary

Myrtle E. Davis PORTSMOUTH - Myrtle Estelle Davis, 96, went home to be with her God, Saturday, Feb. 28, 2009. She was a lifelong resident of Portsmouth and was a daughter of the late James and Hanna Ricketts. She was a devoted member of Westhaven Baptist Church for most of her adult life, serving in many ways and always supported its many programs. She spent many happy hours on her knees pulling weeds and planting flowers. She took pride in her house, flowers, yard and family. She was a mother to all who needed a mother. She served as secretary of Intermediate Department, member of Philathea Class and attended TEL class. She was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, George Ralph Davis Sr., six brothers and one sister. She is survived by her three sons, G. Ralph Davis Jr. and wife Barbara, Arthur Lee Davis and wife Kathy and Carroll E. Davis and wife Jean; six grandchildren, Michael K. Davis and wife Donna, the Hon. Mark S. Davis, Sherri Davis and companion Don, Bryan L. Davis and wife Robyn, Jill C. Booth and Shannon R. Davis and fiancé Danny; and five great-grandchildren, Brook N. Wells and husband Nathan, Justin M. Davis, Conner A. Palermo, Brenna R. Booth and Logan Wynne. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Revs. Bruce and Traci Powers. Burial will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Westhaven Baptist Church. www.SturtevantFuneralHome.com.
