Mildred Barnes Obituary

Mildred V. Barnes WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Mildred Virginia Barnes, 94, passed Friday, Feb. 27, 2009. She was a native of Philadelphia and daughter of Russell and Martha (Campbell) Swavely. She was predeceased by her husband, Walter Leander Barnes. She is survived by two daughters, Dorothy (Barnes) Tillett and Margaret (Barnes) Stroud. Mildred had four grandchildren: David Leander Creef and wife Erin of West Palm Beach with daughters Maddy and Kelly; Anne (Stroud) Pittman and husband Jim of Tallahassee with children Katie, Jimmy and Daniel; Timothy Wayne Creef and wife Melisha of Gaithersburg and children Michael, Tevin, Celeste and Maya; and Kenneth Ray Stroud of Virginia Beach. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens by Mr. Jim Gribble. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, Wednesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. www.SturtevantFuneralHome.com.

I am so sorry to hear about Mildred's passing. I have such fond memories of her and the times we had together in our ladies' Bible class and visiting the sick and shut-ins. She was very special to me.
