One of my best memories of Gayle was on the Oscar Smith High School Football team back in the early 80's. We had such a small team in size and most of us had to play both offense and defense. I remember walking to the sidelines exhausted and wore out. I could remember Gayle on the sidelines in those suspenders and a big wad of tobacco in his mouth. He would always come over to us on the bench and put a cold towel on our head and neck to "cool" us off. He would always "loosen" up our muscles if we got a cramp or if we were sore from getting "knocked" around on the field. That was the Gayle I remember, always giving and never asking in return. We love Gayle and we know you are home with God. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Our sincere sympathy to Gayle's family. He will always have a special place in our hearts; Gayle introduced us to each other in 1957 while both men were working for C&P Telephone. We just celebrated our 50 year anniversary - with thanks always to Gayle who was at the beginning! We are sure he will be missed terribly.
