Molly Buell Obituary

Molly Lang Buell NORFOLK - Molly Lang Buell, 86, beloved wife of Dr. Harold Lloyd Buell, mother and grandmother, died June 15, 2009 at WakeMed Cary Hospital, Cary, N.C., after a short illness. Molly was born in Norfolk, Dec. 7, 1922, and grew up in that area. After graduation from high school, she danced professionally in New York City before opening a dance studio in the Norfolk area, a business which she operated for approximately 15 years. A talented dance performer and choreographer, she created her own routines as well as those for students and was highly capable as an instructor for all types of dancing including jazz, tap and ballroom. Many of her students went on to successful careers in the dance field. Mrs. Buell was an artist with exceptional God-given talent. She created her own artistic works as well as teaching others throughout her adult life. She was exceptionally skilled in the painting of portraits and her works hang in homes both here and abroad. She was a graduate of the Miami-Dade Community College and Florida State University art programs and taught briefly in both. She was a resident of Tallahassee, Fla., for many years and retired to St. Augustine, Fla., in 1999. In December 2008, Molly and her husband moved to Fuquay Varina, N.C., to be closer to family. Molly was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Henrietta Lang and a sister, Katherine Yeatman. She is survived by Harold, her husband of 52 years; a son, George C. Shoemaker and wife Abby; a daughter, Cheryle Lang Velsor and husband Bruce; as well as four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. A memorial Mass will be held Friday, July 31, at St. Anastiasia Catholic Church in St. Augustine, Fla., and her remains will be interred at San Lorenzo Catholic Cemetery in St. Augustine. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Molly from this life to Eternity. Although I am sad that I was unable to locate her over the years, I will join you, her family and friends, in Celebrating her life.

She was such a wonderful dance instructor and friend and she loved life so much and Molly was blessed with talent in so many ways and such a Blessing to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. I am so thankful for her ability to share her passion of dance with me and give me the same passion in my life. Molly was such an important person in my life, that at the age of 12, I knew what my daughter's name was going to be and 15 years later, I gave Molly Lang, her Namesake and my Molly grew up knowing why her name was so special. I named my first born after her. I'm sure Molly would be very proud of the young lady who was named in her honor and I wonder how many other little Molly's are in this world, because of the Love this one person showered on each one of her students of dance. I will always remember Molly with great fondness and her husband and children whom she spoke of with such pride, the same way. We may have been friends for a short time in our lives, however, I have never forgotten any of you and have kept each of you in my thoughts and prayers throughout the years, asking Our Lord to keep you safe in HIS care, because even though I didn't know where you were, HE did. I am trusting HIM now, to keep you close to HIM and give you that Peace, that goes beyond all understanding and we will Rejoice and Celebrate the life she had on Earth and look forward to seeing her and dancing with her again in Eternity, forever. Molly, will always have a special place in my heart and so will her family.

My deepest sympathy,
Love,
Sharon
and My Dad, Jimmy Evans, sends his Sympathy also. He too, was sad to learn of Molly's passing.

May GOD Bless each of you and your families, in a very special way, as only HE can.

To the family of Molly Lang Buell. I was so blessed to have the close friendship with Molly. Each year we decorated our Christmas tree with ornaments she and her mother made for us. She painted a beautiful cat and signed to my sweet daughter Bonnie, whom we lost suddenly on June 23rd.
Our lives took seperate paths but the memories of Molly's true beauty will always remain in my heart. Geri Flynn

My husband and I had the priviledge of knowing Molly because she was a good friend of my husband's parents, Chloe and Oley Sellers. She was a lovely lady, charming and a pleasure to be around. She always said things that made one feel special and was especially kind to everyone. Not only was she very pretty and talented, she was one of the unique women that are few and far between in the busy, hectic world today. She was a true "Southern Lady" and we are happy to have known her.

I am so terribly sad to learn of the passing of my Aunt Molly. My good intentions of a visit and update in past several years unfortunately did not occur. However I love her and already miss her so much. From Carol and myself and Amy Lang Houston we send our condolences to all family members.
