Eleanor Mullen Obituary

Eleanor Harris Mullen YORK, Pa. - Eleanor Harris Mullen, 81, died August 16, 2009 in York, Pa. She was born in Spring Hope, N.C., on Oct. 13, 1927, to the late Sally Elizabeth Harris and James Monroe Harris. Eleanor shared 56 years of marriage to the late Roland Wesley Mullen of Bunn, N.C., and Norfolk. She lived most of her life in Norfolk, then Oxford, N.C., and York, Pa. Eleanor will be remembered as a wonderful mother and grandmother with a great sense of humor, unconditional love, a forgiving spirit, and inner beauty. Her family was very important to her and she lived each day thinking and talking about her children and grandchildren. She has finally broken out of her earthly cocoon and is now like a beautiful butterfly, floating freely and pain free towards heaven. She was a loving mother to her children, the late Joan Mullen Shytle of Raleigh, N.C., Dianne Mullen Leitz of Virginia Beach and Deborah Mullen McCullar of York, Pa., and husband Mike McCullar. She was a wonderful grandmother to her grandchildren, Tammie Leitz, Ken Leitz, and Noah Leitz, all of Virginia Beach, Doug Shytle of Largo, Fla., Lori Brown of Courtland, N.Y., Josh McCullar of Richmond, Va., Eleanor Blake McCullar and Wesley McCullar of York, Pa. She was a great-grandmother to 15 and great-great-grandmother to one. She was looking forward to two new great-great grandchildren, whose births are coming soon. Some of her last words to us were "Take care of the babies." She was the loving sister to the late Joe Harris of Wilson, N.C., James Harris of Goldsboro, N.C., Wilbur Harris of Trenton, Ohio, Robert Harris of Richmond, Va., and Dorothy Lockwood of Byron, Ga. She has many nieces and nephews whom she adored. A funeral will be held at noon Friday, Aug. 21, at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC 27545. Burial will be held in Bunn Town Cemetery, Bunn, N.C. The family will receive relatives and friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, at the funeral home. Condolences to the family may be made at www.poolefuneral.com. under Obituaries.

Dear Debbie & Family,

I know how hard it is to loose a mother, my mom has been gone for 17 years and I still miss her. Time really does heal though. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dearest Debbie and Family,
Know you are in my prayers and thoughts as you remember your Mom. Know she is in a better place with your Dad looking down at you all with love. Know she is helping the angels spoil the two new babies on the way into your life. I will always remember your Mom telling you before you left to go anywhere "I love you" Love you tons,
