Melvin Wenger Obituary

Melvin Wenger CHESAPEAKE - Melvin Wenger, 79, went to be with the Lord Monday, Sept. 7, 2009, at a local hospital. He was born in Norfolk County and was predeceased by his parents, Esther and Abraham Wenger and a sister, Mary Wenger, all of Chesapeake. He was a member of Mount Pleasant Mennonite Church and a retired dairy farmer with Wenger Farms Inc. Surviving is his loving wife of 54 years, Dorothy Yoder Wenger; three brothers, Herbert Wenger and his wife Laura of Chesapeake, Homer Wenger of Chesapeake and John Wenger of Sarasota, Fla.; three sisters, Charlotte Wenger of Chesapeake, Ruth Slabaugh and her husband Dorvin from Goshen, Ind., and Norma Brunk and her husband Herbert from Elida, Ohio. The visitation will be held Friday, Sept. 11, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Mount Pleasant Mennonite Church, 2041 Mount Pleasant Road, Chesapeake. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Pastor James Harold Bergey, Pastor Sam Scaggs and Pastor Keith Miller will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel, Chesapeake. Friends are also invited to send condolences and sign the online guestbook at www.omanfh.com. Melvin will be greatly missed by his wife, family and friends.

On behalf of the Turner family please accept our condolence. For many years our father Joseph Turner worked for Christian Kurtz. Although i now live in Philadelphia my siblings are still there and will no doubt pay their respects.
