Melvin Renn Obituary

Melvin T. Renn Jr. VIRGINIA BEACH - Melvin Thomas Renn Jr., 75, of the 3800 block of Charter Oak Road, passed away Sept. 18, 2009 in Bayside Hospital. A native of Henderson, N.C., he was the son of the late Edith and Melvin Thomas Renn Sr. He retired from the United States Navy after 20 years of service having served on the USS Forrestal, USS Valley Forge and the USS Ticonderoga. He also retired from Southland Corporation after 20 years. He is survived by his wife, Judith C. Renn; a daughter, Donna R. Allen; two sons, Thomas Renn and Jeffrey Renn and wife Beth; nine grandchildren, Courtney Foster and husband Brian, Lorne Renn, Sean Renn, Megan Renn, John Renn, Alexis Renn, Alexander Allen, Grayson Allen and Seth Allen; and two great-grandchildren, Emili Renn and Kellan Foster. He is also survived by a niece, Emily Howard and a nephew, Carlton Poythress. He was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth Poythress and a brother, Edwin Renn. A graveside service with military honors will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in Princess Anne Memorial Park with the Rev. Ronald Lee officiating. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Lynnhaven Chapel, Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Princess Anne Plaza Baptist Church.
