E.B. Gayle Jr

E. B. Gayle Jr. FRANKLIN - E.B. Gayle Jr., 81, died Oct. 15, 2009 at his residence. He was born in Franklin, a son of the late Elezer Benjamin and Iona Joyner Gayle, and was predeceased by his wife, Sarah Burkett Blythe Gayle and a brother, Talmadge Gayle. An Army veteran of the Korean War, he was retired from the maintenance department of Union Camp Corp. as a pipe fitter and was a member of the Sedley Volunteer Fire Department. E.B. was renown in the area for the building of model homes of personal and historic value that usually took a year to complete, many of which he gave away. Survivors include his son, Perry Gayle of Cary, N.C.; two brothers, Wesley C. Gayle and Charles R. Gayle, both of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, in the chapel of Wright Funeral Home with the Rev. James Smith officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Rosemont Cemetery, Sedley.
