Esther Brinkley Obituary

Esther Brinkley PORTSMOUTH - Esther H. Brinkley, 69, of the 3500 block of Willow Breeze Drive, transitioned into eternity Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009. She was born Aug. 8, 1940, in Nansemond County, Virginia, to the late Felton Hodges and Gertrude Harvell. Esther was a retired teacher who worked in the Suffolk public school system for 29 years. She was an active member of Poplar Run Baptist Church and served on various auxiliaries until her health began to fail. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Linsey Brinkley Sr.; her son, Linsey Brinkley Jr.; two daughters, Sherrie Greene and Matoki Brinkley; one sister, four brothers, four grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Viewing will be held Monday, Nov. 2, from 3 until 7 p.m. at J.T. Fisher Funeral Services, 1080 N. George Washington Highway, Chesapeake. A life celebration service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, at Poplar Run Baptist Church, 5330 Bennetts Pasture Road, Suffolk, VA 23435 where Pastor James Williams Jr. will officiate. Burial will be in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. Condolences can be offered to the family at www.jtfisherfuneralservices.com.
