Genevieve Boucher Obituary

Genevieve Boucher CHESAPEAKE - Genevieve (Jean) Marion Boucher, 85, of Purcellville, Va., died Dec. 2, 2009, at INOVA Loudoun Hospital. Born Jan. 31, 1924, in Chicago, she was the daughter of Stanley and Genevieve Stefanski. She graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in 1942 and from the Loyola University School of Nursing in 1946. During the Korean War, Mrs. Boucher was a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army and served as a registered nurse in Walter Reed Army Hospital. Later, she worked for a time in Loudoun Memorial Hospital, then in nursing homes and finally for 15 years at Portsmouth Naval Hospital, retiring in 1984. She was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Jean was a hard-working and conscientious nurse - you were truly lucky if you were in her care. She had a strong sense of patriotism and never forgot those who serve the nation in harm's way. Above all else, she loved her large family and never ceased worrying about each one of them. Her perseverance in the face of debilitating injury served as an example to all those who knew her and her strength of character and compassionate nature will not dim in the memories of her family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Donald J. Boucher and one brother, Stanley Stefanski. She is survived by her seven children: two sons, Donald J. Boucher Jr. and wife Carla of Chesapeake and Brian W. Boucher and wife Beverly of Middleburg, Va.; five daughters, Mary Bright and husband Dale of Purcellville, Teresa Boucher of Purcellville, Kathy Evans of Midlothian, Va., Jeanne Crow and husband Bill of Chesapeake, and Suzanne Meyer of Leesburg, Va.; 13 grandchildren, Melanie Blankenship and Stephen Bright of Unison, Va., Justin and Michelle Boucher of Chesapeake, John, Karen, Sara and Kevin Crow of Chesapeake, Mary and Kerry Evans of Midlothian, Kristina Hedin of Felton, Calif., and Corey Meyer of Leesburg, and Michael Fullilove of Richmond; three great-grandchildren: Emme Fullilove and Bethany and Amber Blankenship of Unison, Va. A funeral Mass was held Monday, Dec. 7, 2009 at St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church, Purcellville . Burial followed in the St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Leesburg.
