Mary Deliard Obituary
Sister Mary Placid Deliard, OSB, Cam.
of Windsor
Sister Mary Placid Deliard, OSB, Cam., co-foundress of Transfiguration Monastery, died July 2nd in Lancaster, Calif. A native of Cap Breton, France, Sister Placid entered the Benedictine Monastery of Poyanne, France, in 1940. She received permission to help found Transfiguration Monastery in Windsor, N.Y., along with Sister Jeanne Marie and Sister Mary Donald. She was well-known in the local area for the catering of French dinners. Sister Placid was an exceptional Benedictine sister with many gifts. She was a person of deep prayer. Her memory will be cherished by her Sisters at the Monastery and her many friends.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date to be announced. Memorial contributions may be made to Transfiguration Monastery, 701 N.Y. Route 79, Windsor, N.Y. 13865.

When she sang to the Blessed Virgin on a summer evening, it was as if I were in heaven. Her kindness and attention to me was a huge impact on my life. I shall never forget her. My prayers are with Sr. Donald and Sr. Jean. I know they will miss her so much.
