To Tara, Brandon and Luke,
I first met your mother when you were little guys attending school at Clayton Ave. At that time, she was just another parent to me. As time passed, she and I became friends, then good friends and then, best of friends. Also, I worked with your mom. She never ceased to amaze me at her knowledge of her job, her calmness of spirit, warmth and friendliness no matter how busy she might be.
I think back to last September when she, Connie and I went to Cape May, NJ for a week. She had oftentimes since then teased us that we spent a week at the shore without ever puttiing our toes in the water or walking in the sand. During that week, Connie and I were aware that Mary Lou wasn't feeling well, but your mom had a way of compartmentaliziing her illness and not letting it get in the way of what she wanted to do. We had a great time together...a week I will never forget.
I feel privileged to have been your mom's friend..she was/is my hero! You three must feel so very proud to be able to say, "Mary Lou Wheeler was my mom"!

Brandon, Luke, & Tara,
No words can really express how difficult this time will be for all of you. Just know that she is always with you in your hearts and memories. She was someone that I admired and I will never forget our times together and I will never stop missing and loving her. She was such a blessing in my life. I am truly honored at having had her as one of my dearest and best friends. I've never known anyone with as much grace and dignity and courage as Marylou. No matter what her circumstances, she took care of everyone else and stayed strong through every storm in her life. She will be missed by many. I will be there for all three of you now and in the future. I couldn't possibly be as wonderful as she was but I will do my best to help all of you in any way that I can.
May God Bless and Keep You.
All my love, Connie

Dear Brandon, Luke & Tara, Although I had you, Brandon, as a student in school, I had just gotten to know your Mom in the past couple of years. She was such an amazing and wonderful person in so many ways. And what a "trooper", the way she lived her life, always smiling, helping others, and never complaining. I am so sorry that you have lost your Mom at such a young age. It will always be a tribute to her that her 3 children are such good people. She did an amazing job raising you. She is "one in a million". Sorry that I will be out of town during her Memorial Service, but know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and that she is at peace.

Tara, Lucas, Brandon and Mrs Steele:

Mary Lou and I have been friends since High School. As I write this I am remembering all the zany things we did. All the times we laughed until we cried. She was a great friend who always had time to listen. We last spoke 2 weeks ago and I am grateful for having had that conversation. She loved you all so much. Her courage throughout these last 18 years has been an inspiration. She continued to find humor and continued to live life. I will always remember the cruise that we went on several years ago it was special. She will be missed but she will be with us giving us inspiration and courage in our lives.

To Mary Lou's family...
Mary Lou and I knew one another in college and I found her inner and outer beauty to be unequaled. Her dancing laugh will leave an emptiness in the sweet sounds of this world. Her courage over the last eighteen years was a tribute to her character and strength. I will miss sending her roses on her birthday each year, but her happiness now, above us all, is well-deserved and complete.
Enjoy the memories, as I will.
God Bless her.

MaryLou is now with our heavenly father and is no longer suffering. Both of us knew that she suffered many years ago but was not inclined to show it. We feel certain that she would/will be pleased to see her children again if you will put your trust in the Lord Jesus Christ as she did.
We are praying for you in your loss.

I worked with Mary Lou a few years ago at the Vestal School Admin office. She was a wonderful person and a great co-worker. She has suffered way more, and much longer, than any person should suffer. She will be greatly missed. You have my deepest sympathy and may God Bless you in the days ahead. Take ONE day at a time.
