Doris Sackett Obituary
of Barton, N.Y.
Doris Marie Sackett, of Barton, N.Y., surrounded by family, went to be with Lord on Saturday, August 23, 2008, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born March 14, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Bernard "Bucky" Veda Hendershot of Barton, N.Y. Doris was the first female police and fire dispatch for the Waverly Police Dept. She worked 19 years at Lockheed Martin in Owego until taking an early retirement due to a decline in her health.
At the request of the family, they would appreciate no flowers. As Doris requested, in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Chemung Christian Fellowship Church, 726 Main Street, Chemung, N.Y. 14825; or Lourdes Hospice, 169 Riverside Drive, Binghamton, N.Y. 13905. A time for gathering with family and friends will be from 10-11 a.m., Tuesday, August 26, 2008, at Blauvelt Funeral Home, 625 Broad Street, Waverly, N.Y. The celebration of Doris's life will follow the visitation at 11 a.m. Those wishing may send a sympathy message of remembrance for Doris's family in obituaries at www.blauveltfuneralhome.com.

I was so sorry to hear about Doris. Doris and I worked together at LM and she was always there with a smile even during some of her hard days. She will be missed. My prayers go out to the entire family.
