Robert E. "Bob" Miller, 87, went home to the Lord on Monday, October 6, 2008, at his home after a long illness. He was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Mary Miller; brothers, George and Edward Miller; sisters, Beatrice Black, Ann Limner, and Marie Devanney. He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Margaret "Rita" (Marini) Miller, Binghamton; one son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Sue Ellen (Serbin) Miller, Chenango Bridge; one daughter, Luann Miller, Hillsborough, N.J.; three grandchildren, Mary Rachel Miller and Elizabeth Ann Miller, Chenango Bridge, and Robert Miller, Hillsborough, N.J.; one sister, Kay Morello, Binghamton; also several nieces and nephews. Bob was an Army veteran of WWII serving in the European Theatre with the 88th Infantry Division. He was a retired employee of IBM in Owego, a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, and was an avid golfer and a loyal Yankee fan.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, October 11, 2008, at 8:45 a.m. at the James V. DeMarco & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango St., Port Dickinson, N.Y. and continue at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary of the Assumption Church where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the DeMarco & Son Funeral Home on Friday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions in Bob's memory to Lourdes Hospice, 4102 Old Vestal Rd., Vestal, N.Y. 13850 or to St. Mary's Refurbishing Fund, 37 Fayette St., Binghamton, N.Y. 13901.
