Raymond Cubic Obituary

Raymond A. Cubic
of Vestal
Raymond Cubic, age 64, died suddenly of a heart attack Tuesday, November 20th, at Wilson Hospital in Johnson City, New York. He was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Clara Cubic, Sharpsville, Pennsylvania. He is survived by his wife, Suzanne; his son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Wendy Cubic, Binghamton; his daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Gregg Machovec, Vestal; his grandchildren, Ashley, Jonathan, and Margaret; his brother, Ronald Cubic, Wooster, Ohio; and his sister, Donna Siggelow, Mercer, Pennsylvania, and her children, David, Kimberly, and Kevin. Ray retired as a manager at IBM Corporation in July, 1992. He was a loving husband and a beloved father, grandfather, and uncle. His skill as a handyman kept him busy helping family and friends alike with any chore, no matter how big or small. He was an avid gardener. He delighted in working in his own greenhouse. Ray was a passionate golfer and he sponsored his own annual Cubic Open golf tournament. Ray's days at his cottage on Skaneateles Lake were among the most precious to him. He took great pride in maintaining the cottage, and he enjoyed fishing and boating. His lake friends nicknamed him "The Mayor" and the title fit him perfectly. Ray was an accomplished genealogist, a hobby that led him on many adventures. Anyone who knew him knows how much he loved to tell stories about his travels.
Respecting his wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services. A gathering of friends and family will be observed at a later date.

Suz & Family,
What a shock! I appreciate you letting me know. You know what I am feeling for you now. So glad the kids are there for you.
I always remember our early days in Rochester together especially when I hear Bobby Hacket. So glad I got to see the both of you again the summer of 2005.

Suz & Family,

I will always cherish the time I spent with Raymond. The rest of the guys and I always looked forward to his visits because we knew we would have fun working with him on any project that came up. I especially enjoyed working with him doing the work on the new house. The coffee breaks were our favorite! Every time I turn on a light at the house I will think of him and the good times we shared.

You're all in my prayers.

Sue, Chris, Gregg, Scott, & Wendy,

We remember a stormy day shelter turning into a fun respite from the inclement weather. With lightning flashing, and the storm coming in fast, we knew where to head: Ray's boathouse on Skaneateles. Ray's hospitality, his humor, his knowledge, were always a constant. We considered Ray one of those guys - if he told you something - you could take it to the bank. We'll miss him.

Chris, I'm very sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to you and your family. It's been a long time since you co-op'd at IBM but I remember you and had some good times. Always remember the good times and the bad will fade. Take care.

Yesterday I went up to the lake, stood on his dock, had a "blue" and said goodbye to a BEST FRIEND. The last time I saw Ray when we were leaving we clicked cans and Ray said, "It was a great year."
I'm really going to miss the Mayor.
My deepest sympathies.
