Franklin Smith Obituary

SMITH, FRANKLIN E., 87 of Coventry, died Wed. at Riverview Healthcare, Coventry. He was the husband of the late Agnes M. O'Reilly whom he married in 1947.

Born in Queens, NY, he served in the US Army QM Corp driving a 2 1/2 ton truck, serving in the US, Bermuda, Africa and Sicily, Italy. He moved to Nassau City in 1950 and lived in Levittown, NY until 1984, moving to Coventry in 1998. Mr. Smith worked for the Western Electric and N.Y. Telephone Companies. They sold their home in NY and bought a pick-up truck and 30 ft fifth wheel trailer to tour the US and Canadian Provinces.

Mr. Smith is survived by six children, Kathy Banusevich, Kevin, Michael, Robert, Matthew and Barry Smith, 13 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and was uncle of David Smith and Dorothy Clemson. He was the brother of the late Walter Smith.

Friends may call at Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Avenue, West Warwick, Thur. 4-7pm with a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Czenstochowa, 455 Washington Street, Coventry, Fri. at 10am. Burial with military honors will be at the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter, Sat. at 9am. In lieu of flowers, donations to Home & Hospice Care of RI, 143 Main Street, Wakefield, RI 02879.
