Marie Joost Obituary

JOOST, MARIE E. (REILLEY), 89, of Charlestown, passed away on Sunday July 13th in the South County Hospital in Wakefield. Mrs. Joost was the wife of the late Frederick B. Joost, Jr.

Born in Providence, a daughter of the late James L. and Ellen G. (Gill) Reilley, Marie has lived in the South County area since 1955. Mrs. Joost was a graduate of the Rhode Island Hospital School of Nursing and was the Head Nurse at Uniroyal for 25 years. She was head nurse at CibaGeigy for 10 years. She was the President of the Rhode Island Industrial Nurses and the secretary of the Ocean Ridge Civic Association. Marie was also an active volunteer of the St. Mary's/St. James Food Pantry. Mrs. Joost was a communicant of St. James Chapel in Charlestown.

Mrs. Joost is survived by her daughter Fredrica J. and her husband Gary W. Anderson of Charlestown, six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Marie Joost-Cox.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday July 18th at 10:00am in St. James Chapel, 2079 Matunuck Schoolhouse Rd., Charlestown. Burial will follow in St. Ann's Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours will be held in the Forbes Funeral Home, 28 Columbia St. Wakefield on Thursday from 5-8pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the St. Mary's/St. James Food Pantry, PO Box 204, Charlestown, RI 02813.

As a young boy growing up in Ocean Ridge I found Mrs. Joost a wonderful person who was just like your own mother. I am sure she will be missed by everyone that came in contact with her no matter what their age was.
