Marian Earle Obituary

EARLE, MARIAN (FONES), 96, of Manchester, CT died June 18 at a local convalescent home in CT. Born in Washington, RI, Town of Coventry, January 9, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Harrie G. and Phoebe (Hopkins) Fones, and the wife of the late Daniel W. Earle, Sr. She had lived in East Providence for 33 years before moving to the Arbors in Manchester in 1991.

A 1934 graduate of RI College of Education she taught in many states: RI, NJ, NY and PA. She was a teacher in the Providence school system from 1950 until she retired in 1977.

While living in RI she volunteered at Community Preparatory School in Providence. She was an avid golfer. She volunteered in the activities of her church and was a member of the DAR and Eastern Star.

She is survived by a son, Daniel W. Earle, Jr., and his wife Sue Hutchins of Nova Scotia, Canada; a daughter, Dianne E. Durgan and her husband Robert of Ellington, CT; three grandchildren, Brian K. Durgan and his wife Tracy of Torrington, CT, William T. Durgan and his wife Frances of Ellington, CT and Susan K. Beck and her husband Tim of Hayward, CA; a niece, Roberta Wilkinson of Fountain Hills, Arizona and six great grandchildren, Grace, Anna, Hunter, Branden, Jay and Mary.

A memorial service will be held at the Ellington Congregational Church, 72 Main St., Ellington on Sunday, August 10 at 3 p.m. A committal service will be held at the Cypress Columbarium, Swan Point Cemetery, Providence, on Tuesday, August 12 at 11:30 a.m.

Contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to the Assistant's Discretionary Fund at the Church of the Epiphany, 1336 Pawtucket Ave., Rumford, RI or to Hospice Care, 8 Keynote Drive, Vernon, CT 06066
