Richard Carlson Obituary

CARLSON, RICHARD W., 77, of Vineyard Rd., died Wednesday, August 13, 2008 in the Haven Health Center, Coventry. He was the husband of Joan O. (Nelson) Carlson. He was born in East Providence a son of the late Ewald and Hilda (Johnson) Carlson. He had been a resident of Warwick for the past forty-two years previously living in Cranston.

Mr. Carlson was an inspector for thirty-seven years at the Federal Products Co. in Providence until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of the Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Warwick, Johan Baner Lodge Vasa Order of America, a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the US Marine Corps, and was an avid fan of the New York Yankees.

Besides his wife he is survived by his son Roy A. Carlson and daughter-in-law Jennifer of Burrillville, three grandchildren, Andrew, Gregory and Gretchen Carlson all of Burrillville and a brother Roy E. Carlson of Troy, NY. He was the brother of the late Carl E. and Bertil H. Carlson.

A funeral service will be held Monday at 11 AM in the Carpenter-Jenks Funeral Home, 659 East Greenwich Ave., West Warwick. Calling hours will be Sunday 4-7 PM. Interment with military honors in the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery. Should friends desire, donations in his memory to R.I.
