Sarkis Kalunian Obituary
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Baba and Mary B. (Najarian) Kalunian.
Mr. Kalunian was Vice President of the former B. Kalunian Stores in Olneyville Square, Providence, founded by his father in 1895 until its closing in 1981. He was Past President of the Olneyville Businessmen's Association and a past board member of the Olneyville Boys Club. He was also an automobile and boat enthusiast.
He is survived by his daughter, Joyce M. Melton and her husband James of Warwick; his two sons, Robert A. Kalunian of Swansea, MA, and Keith S. Kalunian and his wife Karen of Warwick; four grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. He was the brother of the late Kurken Kalunian, Anna H. Messerlian and Elizabeth Konjoian.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service Friday at 11:00 a.m. in Sts. Sahag & Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church, Providence, and may call at the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston on Thursday 5-8 p.m. Interment will be in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Sts. Sahag & Mesrob Church, 70 Jefferson St., Providence, RI 02908.

We are sorry for the loss of Sack.
He and Betty were great neighbors when we lived across the street on Bellman Avenue. My boys loved visiting there especially on Halloween. We remember him fondly.

Dear Keith and the entire Kalunian family. How sad I felt to hear of your dad's passing. I have such wonderful memories of working with him during my high school and college years. I can still hear his great laugh and see that twinkle in his eye. I think I am a better person for having known 'Sak' and was grateful that he always hired me back every fall so I could pay my high school and college tuition. God bless you all.

My deepest sympathy to the Kalunian family. Memories of the store go hand in hand with "Sak" as my boss. I can still see and hear him walking down an aisle banging his ring on the wood around the display counters. That was everyone's signal to scatter if we were busy talking and not working. He was tough but I always found him to be fair. May he rest in peace.

at 353 Blackstone Blvd, East side of Providence.
