Dear Smith Family, Frances was such a tremendous help and comfort to me when my mom was ill. I saw her often in the halls of the Villa and she was so pleasant but it wasn't until my mom became ill that I discovered what a wonderful and caring friend and neighbor she was. Please accept my deepest sympathy.

A Reminiscence

YES, thou art gone! and never more
Thy sunny smile shall gladden me;
But I may pass the old church door,
And pace the floor that covers thee.

May stand upon the cold, damp stone,
And think that, frozen, lies below
The lightest heart that I have known,
The kindest I shall ever know.

Yet, though I cannot see thee more,
'Tis still a comfort to have seen;
And though thy transient life is o'er,
'Tis sweet to think that thou hast been;

To think a soul so near divine,
Within a form so angel fair,
United to a heart like thine,
Has gladdened once our humble sphere.

nana,

all u get is a casket,
with a stone,
and a long memory,
nana you dont know,
what you meant me,
thats why its so hard,
to say rest in peace,
you was a sunny day,
sorta like succeess to me,
you were my nana,
my friend,
you was the best to me,
i wish i could bring flowers everyday,
to ur cemetary,
smith family got strong jenes,
so while u gone,
look over us,
and dont be worried,
but its sad to see,
cuz with out u nana,
where would the smith family be,
you and grandpop kept us out of misery,
also when i got dismissed out of college,
wasn't know body there for me but u and gradpop,
but i used to look forward to coming home and seeing you in the kitchen ready to play sorry, yahtzee, parchizie, and then i pull out my report card, when you read it, you would be so happy for me, and buy me and my brothers famous pizza, those where the times.. i never told u that...
but what i most use to enjoy was when i was a little boy, coming home from my basketball games with a trophy or a story to tell, i knew you would listen, everybody has there time and number, i just wish yours coulda got post poned, but

SAFELY HOME

I am home in Heaven, dear ones;
Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting light.

All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
Safely home in Heaven at last.

Did you wonder I so calmly
Trod the valley of the shade?
Oh! but Jesus' love illumined
Every dark and fearful glade.

And He came Himself to meet me
In that way so hard to tread;
And with Jesus' arm to lean on,
Could I have one doubt or dread?

Then you most not grieve so sorely,
For I love you dearly still:
Try to look beyond earth's shadows,
Pray to trust our Father's Will.

There is work still waiting for you,
So you must idly stand;
Do it now, while life remaineth-
You shall rest in Jesus' land.

When that work is all completed,
He will gently call you Home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting,
Oh, the joy to see you come!

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.
